Who can apply?
- Students must remain enrolled full time in an accredited degree program throughout the internship and study a field related to the OECD team's work. The program explicitly includes bachelor's degrees.
- Applicants need an excellent command of either English or French and working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the other official language.
- OECD primarily allocates internships to nationals of member countries; non-member-country nationals may be considered for specific programs and projects.
- The program asks for quantitative and IT skills, strong drafting and communication, and availability for at least one month.
A rolling application is not a general offer. OECD teams select from the pool, and the program says applicants not contacted within six months were not retained for that application.
Dates, pay & program timing
OECD accepts internship applications throughout the year and advises applying well ahead because selection can take up to three months. Placements run one to six months and can be renewed up to 12 months, normally full time at 40 hours per week. Paris-based interns receive a €1,000 contribution to living expenses for each full month worked.

How to apply to OECD
- Use the OECD eligibility tester and confirm that you can remain enrolled for the whole placement, meet the language conditions and fit the nationality route.
- Complete the rolling online application and use the Message to Hiring Manager field for a focused cover letter naming the policy or corporate areas that match your evidence.
- If shortlisted, prepare for an interview and possibly a written test, then review the internship agreement, location, schedule and living-cost plan before accepting.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements
How to prepare a stronger application
Choose one OECD work area—such as education, climate, digital policy, tax, trade or communications—and write a one-page evidence note with a clear question, source choices, finding and limitation.
Practice explaining analysis to a policy audience without claiming causation the evidence cannot support. For corporate functions, use a process, budget, event or technical example that matches the team instead of forcing a policy topic.
