Who can apply?

  • The Data Engineer Intern, Product Analytics (Summer 2027) posting requires having, or being in the process of obtaining, a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information science, mathematics or a related field, plus knowledge of SQL, data modeling and at least one programming language.
  • The posting requires obtaining work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and keeping it throughout, and lists intent to return to a degree program after the internship as a preferred qualification.
  • Meta's student page does not state a minimum class year, GPA or deadline, and much of it is written for PhD research candidates. The individual posting sets the rules.
Easy to miss

The research internships on the student page are for PhD candidates. An undergraduate should apply to a posting that names a bachelor's degree in its minimum qualifications, not to the research track.

Dates, pay & program timing

No universal cutoff confirmed

Meta's student page describes a one-to-one mentor from day one and housing assistance for the duration of the internship, but publishes no dates. At review the Data Engineer Intern posting listed Menlo Park, Seattle and New York, a US base pay of $7,469 to $9,138 per month, and no application deadline. Meta posts intern roles individually, so what is open changes through the season.

How to apply to Meta

  1. Search Meta Careers for internship roles in your country. Intern roles are posted one by one rather than through a single program application.
  2. Read the minimum qualifications of the specific posting — the data engineering role, for instance, requires SQL and data modeling knowledge — and confirm your work authorization for the country of employment.
  3. Apply through the posting and keep its title and reference. Meta Careers lets you save a search and receive alerts when matching roles open.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

For the data engineering internship, bring one project where you designed a table or pipeline rather than only queried one: what one row represented, how you handled late or duplicate records, and how you checked the output. That maps directly onto the posting's data modeling and data quality responsibilities.

Because most of the student page addresses PhD researchers, undergraduates should anchor on the posting. Copy its minimum qualifications into your planner and mark where your resume shows each one. This is our suggestion, not a statement of how Meta screens.
