Privacy Policy
FirstInternships is an independent college internship directory. This policy describes the current directory and its personal application planner.
Local planner data
Saved programs, preparation checklists, planning stages, next-action dates, and notes are stored in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to our servers by the planner. Other people using the same browser profile may be able to see them. Avoid putting sensitive personal information in notes.
Your list is specific to this browser and device. Clear it using the planner's clear button or your browser's site-data settings. Clearing site data or using private browsing can remove it. CSV and JSON backup exports stay wherever you save them and are not deleted when you clear the planner.
JSON backups include saved programs, notes, stages, dates, and checked preparation prompts. They are not encrypted. Keep them somewhere private. Restore files are read locally in this page, not uploaded to our servers. A preview appears before restoring. Add-missing mode keeps already-saved records unchanged; replacing the entire planner overwrites records and removes programs absent from the backup after an explicit acknowledgement and confirmation. CSV is for spreadsheets and is not a restorable backup.
Comparison and calendar tools
Comparison choices are stored in this tab's session storage, separately from the planner. Close the session or use Clear selection to remove them. Comparison links contain only public program identifiers, not your private notes; anyone receiving a link can see those selected programs. Requests for shared URLs may be processed by the hosting provider.
Calendar downloads are local snapshot files. Published-cutoff files contain sourced employer cutoffs. Personal-action files contain today's and future all-day dates you entered for saved programs that are not marked Closed; they intentionally exclude private notes and past action dates. Personal action dates are not employer deadlines. They do not automatically update or subscribe you to a service. If you import one into a calendar provider, that provider handles the imported information under its own policies. We do not access your calendar or receive your imported events.
Personal preparation timelines
The timeline builder processes your selected program, target date, and optional recommendation checkpoint in this page. Target dates and temporary checkmarks are not sent to our servers or stored by the builder. Program-preselection links contain only a public program identifier. Reloading or leaving clears the plan. Saving a program uses the local planner described above.
Personal-plan calendar and text downloads are generated in your browser. Calendar files contain suggested all-day checkpoints, not official application cutoffs. If you import a file into another service, that service handles it under its own policies. Downloaded files remain wherever you save them; the builder cannot delete or update them.
Contact messages
Our contact form opens an email draft in your email app; it does not submit a message to us by itself. If you send an email, we receive your address and the information you choose to include. We use it to respond, evaluate corrections, and maintain the directory. Do not send resumes, transcripts, government identifiers, passwords, or other sensitive documents.
Hosting and external resources
The hosting provider may process request information such as IP address, device/browser details, requested URL, and time to deliver and secure the site. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives requests for those resources. No account-registration flow is offered by this directory.
We use two privacy-preserving audience measurement services to count page visits: Vercel Web Analytics, which is served from this site's own domain, and Cloudflare Web Analytics, which loads a small script from Cloudflare (static.cloudflareinsights.com). Neither sets cookies, and neither records personal identifiers or builds a cross-site profile. They receive the address of the page you visit, the page that referred you, and basic browser and page-performance information. If you submit the directory's search form, your search term becomes part of the page address and is included. They never receive your saved programs, planner notes, checklist state, or comparison selections — that data stays in your browser, as described above. No other analytics service is enabled.
Advertising
Google AdSense is planned. Ad requests are disabled by default until an approved publisher configuration and applicable consent setup are enabled. Advertising configuration is separate from the local planner.
When enabled, Google and advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, measure, and, where permitted, personalize ads based on visits to this and other websites. Review how Google uses information from partner sites and manage Google personalization in My Ad Center. Applicable consent or opt-out controls must be configured before advertising launches. This notice alone is not a consent-management platform.
Employer links
Applications take place on official employer or program websites. They have their own privacy policies and may collect application information. We do not collect or submit your application, access your employer portal, or know the employer's decision.
Use, sharing, and retention
We do not sell local planner records or operate a server database of them. Contact messages may be processed by email and hosting providers and retained as needed to respond or document editorial corrections. Service providers may process technical data to operate and secure the site. Information may also be disclosed when required by law.
College audience and your choices
The directory is intended for current college students, not children. You can browse without using the planner or sending an email. To ask about information you sent directly to us, request deletion, or raise a privacy issue, email contactfirstinternships@gmail.com. We cannot remove an exported file from your device or data held by an employer.
Updates
We will update this policy if the site's data practices change. The date above identifies the latest version.
