Who can apply?
- Current college students may be enrolled full time or part time in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution.
- US citizenship, a cumulative 3.0 GPA, and a minimum age of 16 are program-level requirements.
- A project's skills, education level, and other qualifications still apply. This directory covers the college route only.
OSTEM and Pathways have different rules and application processes. Eligibility for one does not establish eligibility for the other.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements
How to prepare a stronger application
Start with the project, not the NASA name. For a data project, describe a dataset you cleaned and the conclusion you reached. For communications or business work, show a writing sample, campus organization project, or process you improved.
A first-year applicant can use laboratory coursework or a small independent project honestly. Identify what you already know and what you would need to learn; do not claim experience with equipment or methods you have only read about.
