Who can apply?

  • Applicants must be rising juniors or above, current undergraduate or graduate students, or recent graduates. The undergraduate route therefore begins with students entering junior year.
  • Non-US citizens may apply with a valid work permit or visa showing US employment eligibility; BPC does not sponsor visas.
  • BPC publishes no minimum GPA, though it says most applicants have at least a 3.0. A transcript is required, but the official FAQ does not turn that typical GPA into a cutoff.
Easy to miss

The dates on BPC's page are when each 2027 term's postings appear, not guaranteed final deadlines. The listings stay up approximately four weeks and can fill on rolling review.

Dates, pay & program timing

No universal cutoff confirmed

BPC lists Spring 2027 postings for September 28, 2026, Summer 2027 for February 8, 2027, and Fall 2027 for June 14, 2027. Postings generally remain open about four weeks and are reviewed on a rolling basis until qualified candidates are found.

How to apply to Bipartisan Policy Center

  1. Review BPC's current semester descriptions and choose the policy or functional team whose subject and responsibilities best match your evidence.
  2. Combine the required resume, cover letter, three-to-five-page writing sample, unofficial transcript and five-to-eight-sentence bipartisanship response into one PDF when possible.
  3. Submit a separate application for each distinct internship you want, but do not duplicate an application to the same posting; apply early because review is rolling.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

Draft the bipartisanship response around a concrete way of working across disagreement: define the principle, show what it requires in practice and avoid reducing it to a generic call for civility.

Select a writing sample with a clear argument, evidence and clean citations. Read the chosen team's recent output so your cover letter can name the work rather than only the organization.
