Who can apply?

  • AEI invites experienced undergraduate and graduate students and recent graduates; it does not convert 'experienced' into one universal undergraduate class-year minimum.
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA is required, and AEI says most successful candidates have at least a 3.5 GPA.
  • Applicants using F-1 or J-1 work authorization may apply when the internship satisfies their program requirements; limits on weekly hours or duration should be explained in the cover letter.
Easy to miss

AEI's 3.0 minimum is explicit, while class year and compensation can depend on the opening. Do not fill those gaps with assumptions from an older posting.

How to apply to American Enterprise Institute

  1. Search AEI's dedicated internship board and choose one current research or business-group role whose subject and work product you can address.
  2. Confirm the 3.0 GPA minimum plus the opening's schedule, skills, authorization and required resume, letter, transcript or writing sample.
  3. Apply through AEI's iCIMS portal and make your letter specific to the scholar, department or function rather than to public policy in general.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

For research roles, show that you can find, evaluate and summarize evidence accurately. For events, development or communications, show an organized deliverable created for a deadline and audience.

Read work from the exact AEI scholar or department when the listing names one, then connect your skills to a task in the posting without pretending agreement is a substitute for competence.
