Who can apply?
- Sierra Space says students from sophomore year through PhD may be eligible when they can complete a semester of school after the internship and meet the selected role's qualifications.
- The program page requires the ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance and describes US-person or export-authorization conditions. It also says Sierra Space cannot support F-1 employment or sponsorship.
- A 3.0 cumulative GPA is preferred. The resume should include graduation month and year, degree and major, GPA, relevant experience, projects or teamwork and extracurricular activity.
The central page contains cohort-specific graduation text and an outdated application callout. A live requisition—not the evergreen overview—must establish whether you fit the current hiring cycle.
Dates, pay & program timing
Sierra Space describes paid, fully onsite, forty-hour-per-week internships in spring, summer and fall. Summer terms run from May or June through August; positions are generally posted in September, reviewed from October through December and interviewed through January. Locations named on the page include Louisville and Centennial, Colorado; Madison, Wisconsin; and Durham, North Carolina. The overview still displays a narrow graduation band and an outdated application callout, so verify the current requisition rather than treating that text as a confirmed 2027 cohort.

- Use the program page to understand the structure, then open a current Sierra Space internship requisition and confirm its year, location, graduation window and authorization language.
- Place the requested education, graduation and GPA details on the resume and choose a project that matches the selected engineering, operations or business function.
- Apply only through Sierra Space's official careers route, save the requisition and plan housing because interns are responsible for finding it.

How to prepare a stronger application
Show ownership without overstating scope. Explain the subsystem, requirement or business problem, the part you personally handled, how the team reviewed it and the evidence behind the outcome.
Prepare for competency-based questions using four concise examples: a technical or operational setback, collaboration across specialties, a decision made with incomplete information and feedback that changed your work.
