Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

First-year students are eligible, so the programming evidence matters more than seniority. Show one program you wrote that handles real data — parsing files, analyzing a dataset, simulating a process — and describe the problem it solved rather than listing languages.

Biology courses are preferred but not required. If you have none, show curiosity concretely: a genomics tutorial you completed or a short write-up of a biological dataset you explored. This is our suggestion, not an MSK requirement.
