Who can apply?

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a program toward a bachelor's or master's in computer science or a related technical field and be on track to graduate by June 2029.
  • The posting asks for computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms, and experience with Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go or C++.
  • It also asks for non-academic coding experience, such as hackathons, code challenges or personal projects.
Easy to miss

The two sessions have fixed dates. A quarter-system school that ends in mid-June needs the June 14 session, and a fall term starting in August needs the May 17 one.

Dates, pay & program timing

No universal cutoff confirmed

There are two session options: May 17 to August 6, 2027, or June 14 to September 3, 2027. Some interns work hybrid in San Francisco about once or twice a week and some work fully remote. Pay for US-based applicants is $8,250 to $11,000 a month. Pinterest also lists master's and PhD data science and machine learning internships in the US. No deadline is given.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

The posting asks specifically for coding outside class. One finished personal project with a link — a small app, a browser extension, a hackathon build — is stronger than several half-finished ones; say what it does and who used it.

Remote internships reward written communication. Show that you can explain your work in writing: a clear README, a design note or a project write-up. This is our suggestion, not a Pinterest requirement.
