Who can apply?

  • Qualcomm requires current enrollment in a bachelor's, master's or PhD program with at least one semester or term remaining after the internship.
  • US applicants must be available for 11 to 14 weeks during the summer; Canadian applicants must be available for the full internship term of 4, 8, 12 or 16 months.
  • The regional page does not state a minimum class year, GPA, pay or work-authorization rule; postings set those.
Easy to miss

The April-to-May closing period describes when roles come down, not a date to aim for. Roles fill through the season, so waiting until spring leaves fewer to apply to.

Dates, pay & program timing

No universal cutoff confirmed

For the US and Canada, Qualcomm says positions open to applicants in September and close in April to May. US internships start in May or June, end in August or September, and last 12 to 14 weeks. These are recurring program patterns rather than dated deadlines for a particular cycle.

How to apply to Qualcomm

  1. Confirm you will have at least one term of study left after the internship and can commit to 11 to 14 summer weeks.
  2. From September, search Qualcomm's open internships for your discipline and read each posting's requirements.
  3. Apply early in the September-to-spring window rather than waiting until April or May, when Qualcomm says positions close.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

Qualcomm's intern stories come from hardware, ASIC, software and data science roles. For hardware and ASIC roles, bring a digital design or verification project — Verilog, an FPGA lab, a timing problem you tracked down — and be precise about what you designed versus what the course provided.

For software roles at a chip company, emphasize work close to the hardware: embedded C, performance profiling, drivers or signal processing. Our suggestion is to lead with the lowest-level thing you have built.
