Who can apply?

  • The Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2027) posting asks for experience writing clean code in at least one general-purpose language and a solid grasp of data structures and algorithms.
  • It also looks for a strong communicator who asks good questions and collaborates well.
  • The postings reviewed do not state a graduation window; interns are based in the San Francisco or New York hub and must attend in-person onboarding.
Easy to miss

In-person onboarding is required. Even if your work later becomes more flexible, plan to be at the San Francisco or New York hub at the start.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

Figma builds collaborative design tools, so evidence of shipping something people used together — a shared editor, a plugin, a group project with real users — is relevant. Describe what users did with it and what you changed in response.

For product design, Figma's posting points to resources on building a portfolio that tells your story. Lead with one case study that shows the problem, your process and the outcome, rather than a gallery of screens. This is our suggestion, not a Figma requirement.
