Who can apply?
- Applicants must be ages 18 through 24 by June 1, 2027 and have a high-school diploma or GED. They must be enrolled in a community college, four-year undergraduate institution or vocational/trade school when applying, or be within one academic year after undergraduate graduation; students who have begun graduate-level or post-baccalaureate study are ineligible.
- Applicants need a permanent residence in a designated Kaiser Permanente Northern California service area, proof of US work eligibility and evidence of leadership through campus activity, community service or employment. Dependents of Kaiser Permanente employees and physicians are not eligible.
- Interns must be available full time Monday through Friday for the eight-week term and complete hiring requirements if selected, including a drug screen, background check for those 18 or older, employee-health requirements and I-9 documentation.
Enrollment alone is not enough: the permanent-residence rule is limited to designated Northern California service areas, and dependents of Kaiser Permanente employees or physicians are excluded.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements
How to prepare a stronger application
This is a nonclinical program. Connect your experience to operations, communications, technology, finance, human resources, community programs or another supporting function instead of promising patient-care work the internship does not offer.
Build a transportation plan for both the assigned department and professional-development days that may occur in downtown Oakland, Dublin/Pleasanton or nearby areas. KP LAUNCH says interns pay their own daily transportation and punctuality is required.
