Who can apply?
- Applicants must be rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, or have received a bachelor's degree within 12 months of program orientation, and have at least a 2.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Applicants must be US citizens, US nationals or permanent residents, be interested in maternal and child health or health promotion, and commit to the full program.
- The consortium includes Kennedy Krieger/Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, the University of South Dakota in Sioux Falls, UC Davis and Aaniiih Nakoda College/Fort Belknap. Site length, housing and stipend terms can differ.
The dates, stipend and housing table on the reviewed page is labeled for 2026. Copying those terms into a 2027 plan would turn historical information into an unsupported promise.
Dates, pay & program timing
The official page still publishes the completed Summer 2026 schedule and has not posted a Summer 2027 opening date, deadline, dates or benefits. For context only, the last published cycle ran May 25 through July 30, 2026; most sites listed a $5,400 stipend, UC Davis listed $4,900, and housing differed by site. None of those figures is presented here as a 2027 promise.

How to apply to Kennedy Krieger Institute
- Confirm the durable eligibility rules on Kennedy Krieger's program page: academic stage, 2.7 GPA, citizenship or residency category and full-program availability.
- Watch the official page for the 2027 application. Do not use an old January deadline, stipend or site calendar unless Kennedy Krieger publishes it for the new cohort.
- When instructions appear, choose sites and tracks deliberately and submit only the documents the current application requests. Record the new deadline and save the confirmation.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements
How to prepare a stronger application
Decide whether your strongest interest is clinical experience, research, or community engagement and advocacy, then identify a maternal or child health question that connects to it. Use a course, service role or research task to show how you became interested rather than presenting a generic health-care goal.
Compare site logistics before ranking a placement. The last published cycle had different lengths, stipends and housing by site, and the program says formats may include in-person, hybrid and virtual options even though the summer program is described as in person. Wait for 2027 terms to resolve the exact arrangement.
