Who can apply?

  • The Algorithm Development (Quant Research & Trading) Internship – Summer 2027 is for full-time undergraduate or master's students in a quantitative discipline such as math, physics, computer science or statistics; Python is a must and C++ is desired for low-latency trading.
  • The Software Engineering Internship (C++ or Python) – Summer 2027 is for full-time undergraduate students in computer science or a related field with programming experience in Python, C or C++.
  • HRT does not allow multiple applications: you apply to the one role you are most interested in, and it considers you for all open positions.
Easy to miss

One application only: HRT considers you for all open roles from it, so submitting to several postings is not allowed.

How to apply to Hudson River Trading

  1. Decide which single HRT internship fits you best — algorithm development, software engineering, hardware or data science — because HRT accepts only one application.
  2. Apply to that one role; HRT says it then considers you for all open positions.
  3. Prepare for technical work in Python, and C++ if you are aiming at low-latency trading.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

Because one application covers every role, pick the posting that matches your strongest evidence and make the resume show range as well: a statistics project alongside a systems project tells HRT where else you might fit.

The algorithm development posting names statistical analysis, numerical programming and machine learning in Python. Have one project where you analyzed real data with pandas or numpy and can explain what you would change with more time. This is our suggestion, not HRT's process.
