Who can apply?
- The Campus Quantitative Trader (Intern) posting seeks students from undergraduate and graduate programs with outstanding probabilistic thinking and mathematical reasoning, programming experience and a demonstrated interest in financial markets.
- The Campus Software Engineer (Intern) posting in Chicago asks for strong C++ or Python development on Linux and a solid understanding of data structures and threading models.
- Jump says it accepts students eligible for CPT or OPT and sponsors work visas for full-time positions; the trading posting encourages international students to apply.
Jump lists separate undergraduate/master's and PhD research internships. Applying to the one that does not match your degree level wastes the application.
Dates, pay & program timing
Both internships run 10 weeks. Jump states an estimated base salary of $300,000 per year for the quantitative trading internship in Chicago and New York and $250,000 per year for the Chicago software engineering internship; for an internship these are annualized rates. Jump also lists campus internships in quantitative research (separate undergraduate/master's and PhD postings), data, systems and UI engineering, and AI research.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements
How to prepare a stronger application
The trading posting asks for an appetite for risk-taking and probabilistic thinking. Practise sizing bets in simple games — when to take a positive-expected-value risk and how much — and explain your reasoning aloud; that is closer to the job than memorized formulas. This is our suggestion, not Jump's stated process.
For the software role, Linux, threading and data structures are the stated focus. A project where you made code faster by changing a data structure or reducing contention is directly relevant; describe what you measured before and after.
