Who can apply?

  • The Finance Rotation Program page does not publish one class year, graduation window, degree or work-authorization rule for every internship. It describes the FRP internship separately from Microsoft's MBA finance internship, and the selected opening controls.
  • Microsoft's US university-intern rules require enrollment in a full-time bachelor's, master's, MBA or PhD program in an area relevant to the role during the academic term immediately before the internship, plus a return to school for one full academic term afterward.
  • The FRP page recommends Excel, Power BI or Tableau, SQL, R or Python, and finance fundamentals including data modeling, analytics, FP&A, forecasting, financial statements and reporting. These are preparation signals, not a substitute for a live opening's required qualifications.
Easy to miss

Microsoft's FRP page mixes an evergreen internship description with live job cards. A current full-time Financial Analyst card is not the internship application; wait for or locate an opening explicitly labeled as an internship.

Dates, pay & program timing

No universal cutoff confirmed

The US FRP internship is a twelve-week summer experience in Redmond. Microsoft says application timing varies by role and recruiting cycle, and internships outside the United States vary in timing and location. At review, the program page showed a current full-time FRP analyst role but did not display a distinct live US internship opening, deadline or intern pay range.

How to apply to Microsoft

  1. Use Microsoft's FRP page to understand the program, then follow its job opportunities or Microsoft Careers search until an internship—not only the full-time analyst role—is listed for your target country.
  2. Check that opening's degree, expected graduation, return-to-school, work-authorization, location and work-site conditions. Put the expected graduation month and year on your resume without inventing a class-year rule from the overview.
  3. Tailor evidence to corporate finance at Microsoft: Excel or BI analysis, forecasting, FP&A, financial statements, data tools and a recommendation tied to a business decision. Apply through Microsoft Careers and save the job ID and confirmation.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

Build a small driver-based forecast for a Microsoft-style subscription or cloud business. Separate volume, price, retention and cost assumptions; show a base and downside case; and finish with one decision the analysis supports. FRP highlights FP&A and product groups such as Azure, Microsoft 365 and Xbox, so connect finance mechanics to an operating question.

Rehearse a short case-competition presentation with one clean chart, a traceable Excel or Power BI model and a recommendation that survives one changed assumption. The program includes a case competition and access to CFO leadership, making concise financial storytelling more relevant than a dashboard with no decision attached.
