Who can apply?

  • PIMCO says its Summer Analyst Program is for undergraduate and master's degree candidates currently in their second-to-last year of study; it does not translate that rule into one universal U.S. class year.
  • Opportunities are offered in various locations across North America, Europe and Asia, and each live posting controls the eligible degree fields, technical skills, work authorization and office requirements.
  • PIMCO lists a separate Summer Investment Professional Program for current MBA, Ph.D. and experienced master's candidates in their second-to-last year, so those applicants should not assume the Summer Analyst criteria are interchangeable.
Easy to miss

PIMCO's Summer Analyst and Summer Investment Professional programs target different degree groups. Select the correct track and do not invent a duration, pay figure or deadline from an unrelated PIMCO posting.

No universal cutoff confirmed

PIMCO's evergreen internship page publishes no universal duration, application deadline, compensation figure or current-cycle status for the Summer Analyst Program. It directs candidates to the official jobs board, where the selected location and role control those details. Every internship includes formal training and informal learning in an immersive environment.

How to apply to PIMCO

  1. Confirm that you are in the second-to-last year of an undergraduate or master's degree; use the employer's study-stage rule instead of guessing from a class-year label.
  2. Search PIMCO's official jobs by location and team, then read the selected Summer Analyst posting for its degree, authorization, deadline, work arrangement and materials.
  3. Apply to the role that matches your evidence best and prepare examples that connect your analytical work to portfolio management, research, operations, technology or the other function named in that posting.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

PIMCO says interns take an active role and can work across portfolio management, research, operations and technology. For an investment-facing role, prepare one fixed-income or macro question with the data and risks you would examine; for an operating or technical role, show how a system or process affects investment decisions and clients.

The internship combines formal training with informal learning alongside industry experts. Prepare one example of entering an unfamiliar technical subject, asking useful questions and applying feedback to a deliverable. Tie the story to the exact PIMCO team rather than claiming broad enthusiasm for finance.
