Who can apply?
- Hormel requires interns to be at least 18, have completed junior year and have one or two semesters of college remaining after the internship. This maps to the senior hub rather than all undergraduates.
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any US employer without current or future visa sponsorship. Role-specific GPA preferences, majors, transport and driver's-licence rules also apply.
- Some roles involve preparation or consumption of products containing pork, beef, chicken, turkey or nuts; the employer asks candidates for those positions to be comfortable with that work.
Hormel's college rule is unusually specific: applicants need junior year completed and one or two semesters remaining after the internship. A graduating senior may not fit.
Dates, pay & program timing
Hormel posts summer roles in the fall at the start of the academic year and accepts applications on a rolling basis until positions fill. Summer internships typically run 10 to 12 weeks from after Memorial Day through early or mid-August; co-ops can last six months.

How to apply to Hormel Foods
- Use Hormel's official program page to choose a department, then follow its current opening rather than applying to a generic employer profile.
- Check the completed-junior-year and remaining-semesters rule along with the role's major, GPA, transportation, location, product-contact and authorization conditions.
- Apply through the linked careers system, save the requisition and plan for an on-site term, relocation and housing even if the opening is not at Hormel's Austin headquarters.

How to prepare a stronger application
Match your example to the department: a sales conversation, brand analysis, plant improvement, food-safety process, product-development test or technology project.
Hormel describes independent projects and a capstone. Prepare to explain how you scoped a project, tracked progress, asked for feedback and presented a recommendation.
