Who can apply?
- Capital Group says undergraduate students in their junior or penultimate year may apply. Because degree lengths vary globally, this record does not convert that wording into one universal numbered college year.
- All majors are welcome and a finance background is not required. The employer looks for analytical skill, intellectual curiosity, demonstrated interest in investing, mental flexibility, creativity, humility and collaboration.
- The program is based in Los Angeles, London and Singapore. Work authorization and possible visa support depend on the role and location; the current opening controls the terms for each applicant.
The page publishes regional opening months, not one global deadline or proof that a role is currently available. It also uses junior and penultimate-year language together, which should not be forced into the same numbered year for every degree system.
Dates, pay & program timing
The CAP Summer Associate Program lasts 10 weeks. Applications open annually in mid-January for the United States and in late August for Europe and Asia; Capital Group recommends applying promptly but publishes no universal closing date on the program page. Check open roles for the active cycle. The employer states that summer associates receive competitive pay and relocation support.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements
How to prepare a stronger application
CAP's summer experience centers on an individual investment-research assignment with autonomy over the approach. Build a paper portfolio or stock pitch that states a non-consensus view, the evidence behind it, the largest risk and the fact that would make you change your mind; Capital Group itself recommends learning through investment reading and pitches.
The official interview guidance asks about curiosity beyond school, risk, failure, feedback and non-consensus thinking. Prepare connected examples rather than isolated slogans: show what you pursued over time, where your view was challenged, how you reacted to feedback and what the experience revealed about how you make decisions under ambiguity.
For the interview itself, practice with Prepalyst's free Capital Group interview questions with worked answers. Prepalyst is a sister site from FirstInternships' founder.
