Who can apply?

  • LinkedIn's internship FAQ says a general requirement is that interns return to an education program after the internship, and points applicants to the basic qualifications in each job description.
  • Its technical internships cover software engineering, systems and infrastructure, data science, and AI and machine learning; its business internships page separates undergraduate and graduate roles.
  • The pages do not state a minimum class year, GPA, pay or location; the posting governs those.
Easy to miss

Some text on LinkedIn's business internships page still describes the 2024 cycle as closed. That is stale page content, not a statement about the current cycle; go by the live postings.

Dates, pay & program timing

No universal cutoff confirmed

LinkedIn says internship applications generally open in late summer. Its FAQ lists relocation benefits, paid company holidays and development activities among intern benefits, and says each intern is paired with a manager and a mentor. Parts of the business internships page still carry text about the 2024 cycle, so rely on current postings for dates.

How to apply to LinkedIn

  1. Choose a track — technical, business or creative — and read its page for the areas it covers.
  2. From late summer, search LinkedIn's careers site for current intern postings and check each one's basic qualifications.
  3. Confirm you will return to an education program after the internship before applying, since LinkedIn describes that as a general requirement.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

LinkedIn's members are job seekers, recruiters and professionals, so a project involving search, recommendations, feeds or professional profile data is directly relevant. Describe who used it and what you measured.

Recruiters at a professional network will almost certainly look at your profile there. Make sure it agrees with your resume on dates and titles before you apply; mismatches are easy to spot. This is our suggestion, not a stated screening step.
