Who can apply?

  • The official London listing accepts students in the penultimate or final year of a degree in any discipline. It does not publish one GPA or exact graduation-date window.
  • Barclays looks for interest in business and finance, curiosity, resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial approach; extracurricular activities are offered as possible evidence, not a separate requirement.
  • The posting considers applicants who require UK sponsorship under its stated Skilled Worker criteria. Anyone who cannot receive that sponsorship must have full-time UK work rights from June through August 2027.
Easy to miss

Capital Markets is not the same internship as Barclays' Coverage and M&A Banking program. Apply with evidence for issuance, structuring and market execution rather than reusing a generic investment-banking answer.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

Trace one recent public bond or equity issuance from the issuer's funding need through pricing, investor demand and syndication. Then explain why the company might choose that instrument instead of a bank loan or another source of capital.

Capital Markets connects bankers, Sales & Trading, Syndicate, Research, Legal, Risk and Operations. Prepare an example of coordinating accurate work across several people under a deadline, and be clear about the handoffs you owned.
