Who can apply?

  • The Software Engineer Intern – C++, Summer 2027 posting asks for a bachelor's, master's or PhD in a technical field, graduating by August 2028, with experience in modern C++ (C++20 or later).
  • The Quantitative Research Intern, Summer 2027 posting asks for a degree in statistics, computer science, engineering, mathematics or a related subject, graduation by August 2028 and a GPA of 3.5 or above, with statistics, machine learning and intermediate Python.
  • Applicants need legal authorization to work in the U.S. as of the first day, which Akuna says includes F-1 students using OPT.
Easy to miss

Software roles are split by language. Applying to the C++ internship with only Python experience, or the reverse, misses what the posting asks for.

How to apply to Akuna Capital

  1. Choose the Summer 2027 role that matches your strongest language or skill; Akuna posts separate C++, Python, C# and full-stack software internships.
  2. Check the graduation requirement (by August 2028) and, for research, the 3.5 GPA.
  3. Apply through Akuna's careers page for that posting.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

The C++ posting names C++20 or later and topics such as lock-free data structures and performance profiling. If you have used modern C++ features, show where; if your coursework used older C++, be honest and point to a project where you measured and improved performance.

For quantitative research, the posting asks for building mathematical models of real-world problems. Prepare one model you built end to end — the assumptions, the data, how you validated it — and be ready to defend each choice. This is our suggestion, not Akuna's process.
