Who can apply?

  • Applicants must be undertaking full-time third-level education, hold a full UK or Irish driving licence, have the legal right to work in the UK and Ireland, and be willing to relocate or travel.
  • Students from all degree disciplines can apply; an agricultural background is not essential. The employer asks for an interest in food, farming or supply chains and the ability to work independently and with a team.
  • The program takes place through participating McDonald's suppliers in the UK and Ireland. Candidates should study the supplier and location list before submitting a broad application.
Easy to miss

This is a UK and Ireland year-in-industry placement, not a short US summer internship. The licence, work-right, travel and full twelve-month commitments are essential.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

Trace one food product from producer through processing, distribution and restaurant. Identify a real operational or sustainability trade-off and explain what evidence you would seek before acting.

Choose an example of working independently in a fast-moving setting, then show when you asked for help and how you communicated with teammates.
