Who can apply?

  • The apparel design page requires undergraduate junior status. Fashion Design is preferred, but the page presents it as a preference rather than a mandatory named major.
  • Applicants need a basic understanding of fabric and garment construction, an eye for color and trend, deadline management, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Kohl's says its internships cannot employ students who need sponsorship now or in the future, including CPT, OPT or STEM OPT routes that later require sponsorship.
Easy to miss

There is no guaranteed closing day: Kohl's says roles stay open only until filled. A student waiting for a universal deadline can lose the opportunity while the general early-career page still exists.

Dates, pay & program timing

No universal cutoff confirmed

Kohl's lists its 2027 corporate internship as a ten-week, 40-hour-per-week program from June 7 through August 13, 2027. Applications began in early September and remain open until a role is filled. All Kohl's internships are paid, but the reviewed pages do not publish the design role's rate.

How to apply to Kohl's

  1. Read the apparel design section and use its official interest/application link. Confirm the live opening's worksite and any file requirements before assuming the general program page is the complete application.
  2. Tailor the resume and selected design work to private-label apparel: brand and customer research, accurate garment sketching, color, construction, Illustrator or Photoshop work and any experience with tech packs or PLM systems.
  3. Apply promptly because Kohl's sets no fixed cutoff and accepts applications until roles are filled. Save the role description and confirmation before the page changes.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements

How to prepare a stronger application

Build a short apparel story from customer to product. Start with a target customer and trend signal, show edited research or a mood board, then include original sketches whose stitch, detail and proportion decisions can be discussed rather than just admired.

Demonstrate that design can survive production. Choose one project where you responded to material, construction, cost or timing feedback, and explain how the revision preserved the idea while making the item clearer or more feasible.
