Who can apply?
- REDI Undergraduate is for undergraduate students. Hines does not publish one universal class year or graduation window on the program page, so candidates must read the individual role.
- Hines considers students from a range of majors; a real-estate, real-assets or finance major is not universally required.
- Previous commercial real-estate experience is not required for every program. Investment-oriented openings can require stronger technical and analytical preparation, while each business area sets its own requirements.
Skyline Scholars is an unpaid educational exploration program, while REDI Undergraduate is the paid internship. Do not merge their timing, eligibility or compensation when deciding which route to pursue.
Dates, pay & program timing
Hines says REDI Undergraduate applications typically open in August for opportunities in the following year. The internships are paid and generally in person, while compensation, dates, location and other details vary by role. The program page provides an official application route but no one closing date for every opening.

How to apply to Hines
- Review the current REDI Undergraduate openings and choose the team, function and market that fit your preparation rather than applying to real estate as one broad category.
- Check the individual posting for class year, dates, location, work authorization, compensation and technical requirements; the program overview does not standardize those details.
- Apply through Hines's official early-careers route, showing your real interest through relevant coursework, work, market research, a student organization or another accurately described experience.
- Prepare for a process that may include a Talent Acquisition conversation, team interviews and a final round, with possible financial-modeling or analytical questions for investment-focused roles.

Our editorial advice · not employer requirements
How to prepare a stronger application
Hines advises candidates to learn about its properties, investment strategies and the market they hope to join. Pick one Hines project or market and write a short brief on the users, business objective, local demand, capital or operating question and one risk you would investigate. Do not pretend public research gives you confidential deal knowledge.
REDI interns often work with one team while joining property tours, lunch-and-learns and a capstone experience. Prepare an example showing both depth and range: what you owned on one project, how you learned from another function and how that new information changed your final recommendation.
For the interview itself, practice with Prepalyst's free Hines interview questions with worked answers. Prepalyst is a sister site from FirstInternships' founder.
